With more and more Mac users on campus, students often submit Apple Pages documents into assignments on Blackboard which are not viewable inline, cannot be parsed through SafeAssign, and many instructors who use a PC cannot open them. There is a quick and easy way for students to save pages files as word documents and other file types that are more accessible.
Inline grading is a great Blackboard feature that allows instructors to make comments directly on paper and assignment submissions. However, Box, Inc., the provider that Blackboard uses for this tool, is discontinuing Crocodoc which will alter some of the features of inline grading. Read here for a breakdown of these changes.
The Blackboard Self and Peer Assessment tool allows students to review and assess work submitted by themselves and their peers. Using criteria provided by their instructors and optional sample responses, students can provide points and feedback for submitted assignments. The tool provides students a deeper understanding of the material and further insight into their own work through the evaluative process.
