When a SafeAssignment is out of sync (usually after being copied from an older course), students are redirected to the Blackboard Learn home page after clicking the SafeAssignment.
Direct Submit gives instructors the option of uploading student papers directly to the institutional database singly or in bulk to generate reports or to add old papers into the pool to be checked for plagiarism.
SafeAssign allows students and instructors to see what parts of papers are original to the student and where unoriginal material, if any, might have originated.

SafeAssign is a plagiarism detection service, offered by Blackboard. This service helps instructors prevent plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content in student papers. In addition to acting as a plagiarism deterrent, it also has features designed to educate students about plagiarism and the importance of proper citation of any borrowed content.
If a student attempts to upload a a document to SafeAssign without a file extension, the following error message will display: “No file has been specified. Specify a valid file to upload and try again.”
