Description: The Paul Cronan Technology Teaching Excellence Award recognizes a faculty member who has creatively used technology to enhance their teaching at the University of Arkansas. The award consists of a recognition plaque and a $500 Teaching Enhancement Grant from the Cordes TFSC.
Eligibility: Faculty (at all ranks including staff who may teach courses, regardless of tenure status) that have taught for a minimum of three years at the University of Arkansas. We anticipate that a single recipient will be designated each year.
Selection: In the first year, the selection committee shall consist of two TFSC co-directors and and a selected faculty member. In subsequent years, the committee shall consist of one TFSC co-director, one previous Cronan Award recipient, and a selected faculty member. Nominees may either self-nominate or be nominated by a faculty member, a staff member, or a student. To apply for the award a two-page (maximum) nomination letter should be submitted that includes descriptions of how that nominee has used technology to enhance their teaching and a discussion of how integrating that technology contributed to student success. The recipient will be recognized during the Annual Teaching Awards Reception.
Criteria: The following criteria shall be used in selecting the recipient of the Award:
A. Explanation of the technology used in the classroom. (Required)
1. Description of the technology.
2. Creativity of the use of technology.
3. How the technology advances course and/or curricula objectives and student learning.
B. Evidence of student success (related to technology). (These are options, it is not required to address all).
- Evidence of an improvement in student learning.
- Student comments related to the use of technology in the classroom.
- Student evaluation enhancement.
4. Evidence of course or curricula enhancement.
5. Employer/company comments.
