It’s easy to get started using Class as your online meeting tool, your first step is to schedule a session. You can even choose a reoccuring option so that you schedule all of your sessions through the whole semester.

  1. Open your Blackboard course.
  2. Click Launch Class in the Details & Actions menu on the right.
  3. Click Schedule a Session.
  4. Optionally, you can enter a Class ID and Description here.
  5. Click Add Class Dates.
  6. Choose the date range, days, and times of your class.
  7. Optionally, you can give this section of your course a Section Label.
  8. Class always tracks attendance, but you can choose under the Track Attendance and upload it to Blackboard by clicking Yes and push to LMS.
  9. In the Sections/Groups dropdown, choose what groups or sections within this course can access this Class session.
  10. Scroll down and expand the Advanced settings section, to choose whether or not students can join the Class session before the instructor.
  11. Click Save.

This will create your Class sessions so that you and your students can easily join them throughout the semester.

Note: Access to Class sessions is limited to students, instructors, and others who are on the roster of the course. If you plan on having guest lecturers or anyone else join any of your Class sessions, please email bbadmin@uark.edu. To speed up the process, use “Guest Access for Class in [course_id]” as your subject line. For example, if you needed guest access for HIST 11193, Section 901, in the Fall 2025 term, the subject line would be “Guest Access for Class in 2025_FALL_HIST_11193_SEC901.”
