The Academic Integrity Office is looking for faculty interested in piloting Turnitin Clarity. This software embeds a writing platform within Blackboard, and it provides Instructors transparency in terms of understanding how a written submission was constructed. This includes a playback of the student’s writing behaviors, time/writing sessions logged, etc.
Instructors would also choose whether they want to enable a writing assistant that is powered by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). This AI Assistant helps the writer on various tasks without doing most of the work for a student. As you consider participating this semester, please see the attached FAQs document provided by Turnitin, along with this video: Turnitin Clarity Introduction for Faculty & Students (video)
Please note that as part of this pilot, faculty would need to use Turnitin’s Feedback Studio. This means that you would build your Turnitin Clarity writing assignments in Feedback Studio rather than directly in Blackboard. We would provide access/instructions on how to use this tool. Here is a demonstration link for reference.
What We Ask of Pilot Participants
- Register for the Pilot Program using this form
- Attend or review a Turnitin Training session on Tuesday, October 6, at 11 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. via Zoom. A recording will be provided to those that cannot attend live.
- Use Turnitin Clarity on one or more assignments within Blackboard during the Fall 2025 term.
- Provide feedback based on your experience at the end of the semester.
We are seeking insight into Turnitin Clarity’s look, feel, and tangibility from faculty members’ perspectives before deciding on next steps. We appreciate your consideration in participating in this pilot program, and feel free to reach out to Chris Bryson at bryson@uark.edu with questions.
