Want to draw students’ attention to key points, next steps, or helpful hints? With the block styling options in Ultra Documents, you can give your course content some visual flair — and help students focus on what matters most.

Who Will Find This Useful

  • Instructors: Add colorful, icon‑tagged blocks to make important information stand out.
  • Students: Quickly spot tips, questions, and action items as they read.

How to Add Block Styling

  1. Open an Ultra Document in your Blackboard course.
  2. Click Edit on the block you want to style.
  3. Find the block style dropdown in the toolbar (paint palette icon).
  4. Choose a style:
    • Question âť”: signals a guiding prompt or reflection.
    • Tip đź’ˇ: signals actionable tips or notable insights.
    • Key points 📌: signals a lesson summary or essential facts.
    • Next steps ⏩: signal upcoming information or action items.
  5. To remove styling, select Reset styling from the dropdown.

Tips for UARK Instructors

  • Use styles consistently so students quickly recognize what each one means.
  • Label styled blocks clearly — for example, start with “Tip:” or “Key Point:” so the purpose is obvious.
  • Keep them brief. Styled blocks work best for short, high‑impact information.
  • Pair styles with other Ultra features like images or knowledge checks for added engagement.
