The Turnitin Similarity Reports provide insights into a student’s submission. These similarity reports can be found directly in Blackboard Ultra Gradebook, as you’re grading an assignment.  When grading assessments, the Turnitin Originality score will appear in the Assessment Content panel of a student submission. The score is a percentage out of 100. For example, if Turnitin finds no similarities between a student submission and material it is compared against, it will receive a score of 0%.

To find the similarity report in Blackboard Ultra, navigate to the Gradebook and find the assignment. Click on the percentage match pill to the to right of the assignment, and the similarity report will open in a new tab in your browser.

A percentage match should alert an instructor to further review the interactive Similarity Report to determine if plagiarism occurred. There is not a certain percentage match that would automatically warrant a report to be filed with the Office of Academic Initiatives and Integrity. This decision should always come down to human judgment and the Similarity Report allows for this to be done easily.
