After administrators create goals, instructors can align any content item with a goal by clicking an item’s contextual menu and selecting Add Alignments.

Aligning course content and activities with goals provides instructors with:

  • Clarity on content coverage of desired learning outcomes.
  • Performance data on student progress against standards.
  • Support remediation and retention efforts based on student performance.

Note: If you do not have a grade center column for the assessment, you can create a column or upload from an external file.

To add an alignment to a Grade Center column:

  1. Open the Grade Center menu area, and then click Full Grade Center.
  2. Find the column, click on the chevron icon next to the column.
    Click on the Cheveron
  3. Click View and Add Alignments.
    Click View and Add Alignments.

    Tips Tip

Did you know that you can use the full-screen button to more easily see all of your columns in the Grade Center?  It’s the little button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen that looks like four arrows pointing out to make the shape of a box.

  4. In the new window, click Add Alignments.
    Click Add Alignments
  5. Browse to find the outcome or search using keywords.
    Browse and Select
  6. Toggle the radio button next to the outcome to align it with the Grade Center column. Click Submit.
Click on the Radio box next to the desired alignment

Alignments are not visible to students by default. If you would like to make the alignment visible to your students, follow steps 1 and 2, then in the new window toggle the student visibility icon.

Choose your desired visibility for the alignment.

Note: Alignments are copied when you copy your course from semester to semester.
