If you have students using physical clickers in your classroom, you will need a receiver to collect students’ data. The receiver will incur a fee to the department, which is currently $100.

If you are a faculty member new to clickers and require a physical receiver, go to help.uark.edu and click on Request Service to request a physical receiver.  In the service request, make sure to include the name(s) of your course(s) and approximate enrollment as well as your funding source.

If you already have your receiver, go here to create an instructor clicker account.

The receiver is a device that plugs into a USB port and receives the radio signals sent by student clickers when they submit a response.  The PointSolutions software is stored on the receiver, which also functions as a data storage device. This storage can also be used to save PowerPoint presentations and other lecture files so that everything is stored in one location for easy access.

NOTE: It is important to run the PointSolutions software from your receiver rather than the classroom computer, because by default all session files (collected student responses) will be saved to the location from which the software is run. Opening the PointSolutions program from the receiver will ensure that you will not lose any session files if a classroom computer is moved or the operating system is reinstalled. It also allows you to keep all of your files in one location, making them easier to manage.

HINT: You should back up your files to another location periodically.  If you keep a backup of your session files, then if the files become corrupted, or the receiver is lost or damaged, then these backup files would enable you to import your files into your new receiver and not lose any student response data.
