This article will teach you how to change the settings in Honorlock proctoring and make note of any accommodations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only classes that are 100% online can use Honorlock for testing. If you are teaching a class that isn’t 100% online, then we recommend Respondus Lockdown Browser with Monitor.
When you set up a test to use Honorlock, after saving you will usually see the Honorlock screen that allows you to change your settings. However, if you do not see this screen or you are going back to a test to choose your settings after your initial setup then you follow these steps:
Finding the Exam Settings
- Click View course & institution tools.
- If you can’t find the Honorlock Exam List tool in the list, click Browse all course tools at the bottom of the list.
- Click Honorlock Exam List.
Choosing Exam Settings
- Click Enable next to the name of the test you will be choosing settings for.
Note: The newest test will appear at the bottom. - Make your choices about email notifications. By default, your email address will appear under Email Addresses Receiving Notifications. If you do not want to receive these emails then click in the box next to your email address and click Remove Email Addresses. You can also add additional email addresses by typing the address under Add Email Address to Receive Notifications and clicking Add.
- Choose your desired proctoring settings by clicking the checkbox. There are some options turned on by default but they can be unchecked.
- Record Webcam – Record test taker’s testing environment using webcam.
- Record Screen – Record test taker’s screen during session.
- Record Web Traffic – Log test taker’s internet activity.
- Test Taker Photo – Capture test taker photo before the assessment begins.
- Test Taker ID – Capture ID photo before the assessment begins.
- Room Scan – Record a 360 degree environment scan before the assessment begins.
- Basic Calculator – Allow access to a basic on-screen calculator.
- Scientific Calculator – Allow access to a scientific on-screen calculator.
- Disable Copy/Paste – Block clipboard actions.
- Disable Printing – Block printing assessment content.
- Browser Guard – Limit browser activity to assessment content and allowed site URLs only.
- Allowed Site URLs – Allow access to specific websites during a session.
- Simulated – Not Proctored – Sessions will not be recorded or flagged.
- Set your Test Taker Guidelines by clicking the box.
- Open Book Allowed – A book can be referenced.
- Notes Allowed – Pre-written paper notes can be referenced.
- Scratch Paper Allowed – Paper and a writing utensil can be used.
- Restroom Breaks Allowed – Test taker can leave the webcam view for a short period of time.
- Handheld Calculator Allowed – A physical calculator can be used.
- Headphones Allowed – Test takers can wear headphones during assessment.
- Hats Allowed – A hat can be worn on the test taker’s head.
- Public Area Allowed – Background noise and multiple people are expected.
- Background Noise Allowed – Occasional sounds expected in the testing environment.
- Mobile Phone Use Allowed – Test taker can use a mobile phone during assessment.
- Let the proctors know about any specific accommodations that your students may have.
Some sample accommodations include:- John Doe is allowed to use multiple monitors during the exam.
- Jane Smith will have an interpreter in the room.
- John Doe does not have a Photo ID, please bypass ID verification.
- Jane Smith is allowed three 5-minute breaks.
- Choose whether or not test takers can view the assessment outside of the dates.
- Click Enable.
Note:Â Honorlock appears as an option for all exams and assignments. It is not recommended for use with assignments.
