Test banks for thousands of the leading textbooks in higher education are available from the Respondus Test Bank Network. These are the official test banks from publishers including Pearson, Cengage, McGraw-Hill, Wiley, and dozens more. Each test bank is available in the ready-to-use Respondus format and they are FREE to instructors who adopt a participating textbook for their course.

Consider that these test banks are most likely available to students as well. They are a handy starting point, but we recommend that you change the questions and/or answers if you are worried about unique questions to gauge student learning.

Dozens of publishers have partnered with Respondus to make their textbook question banks available, including
  • Cengage
  • Elsevier
  • McGraw-Hill
  • Pearson
  • Wiley
  • W.W. Norton & Company
The full list of publishers is available at http://www.respondus.com/partners/publisher_list.shtml.
Instructors can search for test banks at https://www.respondus.com/products/testbank/.

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to the Respondus Test Bank Network at www.respondus.com/testbank
  • Search for the textbook being used in the course
  • Fill out the request form and submit it

The request is immediately sent to the publisher for confirmation and approval. Once approved, the instructor will receive an email containing the File Code and Password for downloading the test bank. The test bank is then downloaded within Respondus using these steps:

  1. Select Open from the Start menu.
  2. Select Download Test Bank.
  3. Enter the File Code, Password, etc., and click Download.

That’s it! The publisher test bank will start downloading to the Respondus Projects folder in the Respondus Exam Creation Tool (Typically in your Documents folder – Remember the Exam tool is Windows only).

Additionally, most publishers have downloadable instructor resources for adopted textbooks, including presentations, Blackboard test banks, and other materials. To find out about these resources, please contact your publisher account manager, or login to your account on the publisher’s website. The TIPS team can assist with importing these test banks.
