To ensure FERPA, auditing, and security compliance, new procedures for course enrollments have been enacted. The new procedure requires all departments to add Instructors and TAs to CLSS/UAConnect. The procedure no longer allows for Instructors and TAs to be manually added in Blackboard. Once Instructors and TAs are added in CLSS/UAConnect, they will have access to courses in Blackboard within a few hours.
Departments should add TAs as “Class Assistant” in the system and for Roster Role, select “none.”
If a new hire needs temporary access to Blackboard for extenuating circumstances, the department chair/head must contact the Blackboard administrator (bbadmin@uark.edu) to request special access with an external email account. For security and auditing reasons, this temporary account will authenticate using Microsoft Azure, like UARK accounts, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required.
For contractual reasons, these temporary accounts do not have access to other tools and resources that may be used for teaching (Zoom, Office 365, Library Resources, etc.). Access is restricted to Blackboard.
The temporary external accounts can be used until UARK accounts are available. If an instructor does not have a UARK account after the Census Date (defined as the 11th day of classes), then departments will be notified, and an alternative instructor should be added to CLSS/UAConnect.
